Herbs To Reduce Stress and Anxiety

As stated in my “About Me” page, I am attending college and learning about complimentary medicine.  In this degree I will be learning the uses of herbs and holistic nutrition. By the end, I will have earned several certificates and diplomas along with the final degree. Pretty much half way to an official Naturopath. Which I don’t really have a lot of desire to obtain-as of now. This post is about other herbs that are helpful for relaxing and stress reduction that can help you avoid script drugs.

Holidays are coming up and things can get crazy! Between families, gifts, cleaning, decorations, finances, taxes, etc, life can be stressful. Keeping stress away from your life the best that you can will greatly impact your daily health.  Below are some teas and herbs that you can look into and decide whats best for you.

Valerian root is a great stinky herb. Stinky because it has a strong odor. But for many people the benefits are wonderful and can bring down panic and anxiety. Hops, Black Cohosh and Skullcap are others that may be helpful to some for relaxation.  Unless you have an ND, are an herbalist, or know an herbalist, going to your health store, Whole Foods, or Vitamin Shoppe and find products that have these herbs in them.

This information is assuming that you are not on medication already. Herbs can enhance, cancel, or clash with medications causing problems! Speak to you physician (ND, MD, etc) if you want to add/change anything with what you are taking.
